HASTINGS peace campaigners are taking part in a worldwide peace campaign next month.
The campaign ‘2 Million Friends’ is an international call out from peace activists in Kabul, Afghanistan asking for global solidarity to achieve peace there. It involves signing an online petition requesting that the UN call a ceasefire to end the war, which is now in its 12th year, and also to hold a peace solidarity event on Monday, December 10.
Hastings Against War is supporting it by holding an event at The Roomz, Western Road, from 8pm on the same day where local peace activist Maya Evans will speak about the campaign’s importance.
There will be music, readings, poetry and a candle light vigil.
The petition is available to sign at www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/2-million-friends-call-on-the-u-n-for-a-ceasefire-in-afghanistan.
