Police are investigating the theft of a distinctive painting from a home in Hastings Old Town.

The High Street property was broken into between 4-6pm on Monday (26 October) and a portrait of the late television presenter Paula Yates, wife of rock star Bob Geldof, was stolen from the living room.

The picture is large - approximately 5’ x 4’ - and was painted by noted Northumbrian-born artist Stella Vine. It is estimated to be worth several thousands of pounds.

Detective Constable Andy Lawrence, of the Hastings and Rother priority crime team of Sussex Police, said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in or around the High Street, or who may know what has become of the painting.”

Anyone with information is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 1346 of 26/10.

Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers without having to leave their name on 0800 555 111.
