YOUNGSTERS in hospital were treated to some midsummer cheer with a pantomime performed on the children’s Kipling ward at the Conquest.

The Starlight Children’s Foundation theatre group has hired the Panto Company to perform Sleeping Beauty.

It is visiting around 100 hospitals and hospices as part of an eight-week tour.

Caroline Stephenson, ward matron, said: “It has been really great for the children on the ward to have a pantomime in the middle of summer to entertain them.

“While the panto can really help cheer up a child’s day, it can also help to take their minds off their illness and this in turn can have a positive effect on their condition and response to treatment.”
