Older people across town created textile work highlighting memories and reminiscence before exhibiting their works.

Knit Your Memories Together was a project funded by Hastings Borough Council and Unltd that brought together people aged over 50.

Sessions were carried out in a variety of settings including Leolyn Care Home, open sessions held at The Old Chemist, and with a group of machine knitters led by local artist Lorna Hamilton Brown MBE.

The range of talents among participants was extremely high and finished work included the use of techniques such as free machine embroidery, creating stencils from photographs and printing onto a variety of fabrics including silk and linen.

The finished work went on display at the newly opening Craftivists, in Kings Road, St Leonards, and people were invited to enjoy tea and homemade cake at the launch on October 21 when some of the artists were on hand to talk about their process.

Visitors to the launch included Mayor Bruce Dowling.
