GIRLS and young women from across Hastings are invited to take part in a sporting event inspired by the Olympics on Sunday.
The Girls Going for Gold event is part of Active Hastings’, Girls Gettin Active project.
More than a dozen Olympic-style sporting activities will be on offer, each designed to provide girls between the ages of eight and 25, with the opportunity to experience an array of sports, encouraging them to get active.
The event will be held at Summerfield Leisure Centre and the Oval, between 10am and 4pm, with an opening ceremony taking place at 10am and an awards ceremony at 12.30pm and 4pm.
Councillor Trevor Webb, lead member for leisure at Hastings Borough Council, said: “Active Hastings has been offering opportunities for people to get active for five years, and a programme inspired by the Olympic Games will be a fantastic way to encourage girls to participate and compete in sports, boosting their confidence and fitness levels.”
