THE Old Town was transformed into a Victorian winter wonderland on Sunday.
The High Street traders and members of the Old Town Traders’ association clubbed together to put on a wide array of Christmas activities, all with a distinctly Victorian theme.
Children were entertained by a traditional Punch and Judy show and jugglers showed off their skills to shoppers and passers-by.
A snow machine outside The Jenny Lind pub helped create a wintry scene.
Carol singers dressed in Victorian garb walked through High Street and George Street and mince pies were given away to visitors.
People were also kept enthralled by the side shows on offer.
Roger Crouch, one of the main organisers, said: “It was a lovely day and great atmosphere and such a novel way to bring Father Christmas here.
“We had a really good attendance, and an afternoon which I know the children enjoyed.”
