More than £5,000 worth of off-road motorbikes were stolen during a burglary at a house in Hastings.

Raiders struck in Harold Road between 6am and 6.40pm on Sunday (April 3).

They made off with a green Kawasaki KX500 with a blue seat and numbered ‘10’, a Stomp 110cc yellow pit bike with ‘Rock Star’ stickers, a blue-and-white Yamaha TTR 125cc with ‘South Coast Pits’ stickers, a yellow Honda CRF 50cc with a yellow seat and the same stickers, a 110cc children’s blue quad bike with a black seat, along with two yellow, silver and black motorcycle helmets.

Also taken in the burglary were a safe containing several thousand pounds and £160 from a purse.

Detective Constable Andy Lawrence said: “The amount of property stolen suggests that a sizeable vehicle would have been needed to remove it and there are reports of a black van in the area around 2.30-3pm on Sunday.

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw that van or who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area on Sunday. Also, please contact us if you have seen any of these machines being offered for sale. Please email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting serial 1076 of 03/04.”
