A NEW chaplain has taken over the responsibility of the spiritual care of patients and staff at Conquest Hospital.

Reverend Anthony Swaby was officially licensed by the Bishop of Lewes, Right Reverend Wallace Benn, at a special ceremony held at the hospital.

Rev Swaby grew up in London and was ordained deacon in 1992. He has worked as an assistant chaplain at a NHS Trust in Worcestershire. He has been a vicar of a parish church in Wolverhampton and has also spent time as a part-time prison chaplain for young people.

Rev Swaby said: “Patient recovery can be aided by addressing their spiritual needs, so the chaplaincy service can contribute to the healing process. We are always available to offer support.”
