Neighbours consulted on new housing proposal

A PROPOSED new development could see three new homes built at the end of Rock-a-Nore Road in the Old Town.

The initial plans are for three three-storey, two-bed houses, with shop/workshop units and open car ports on the ground floor.

They would be located adjacent to the public toilets and opposite the Blue Reef Aquarium.

A total of 58 individuals with neighbouring properties were written to, along with Hastings Old Town Residents Association and the Old Hastings Preservation Society, earlier this month.

They were asked to raise any issues that they felt should be taken into consideration when preparing the plans.

Relevant factors were considered to be the height and scale of the proposed buildings, their design and use, relationship between the new buildings and existing properties, and views of the cliff from the street.

The closing date for comments was today (Friday).

Planning consultancy Kember Loudon Williams is helping Hastings Borough Council to prepare a scheme for the development of the site.
