HASTINGS Museum is calling for volunteers with an interest in local history of the First World War to get involved with its Hastings Remembers project.

With a range of volunteering opportunities, the project will give people the opportunity to work as part of a team uncovering fascinating local stories.

There will be project activity until the end of the centenary period in 2018, by which time the museum hopes to have collected stories from all local people whose lives were affected by the war. Hastings Remembers will feed into other national projects, such as the Imperial War Museum’s Lives of World War One digital archive which was launched this week. The roles include research, social media and education, and this is an opportunity for people to experience learning new skills.

To find out more there will be an introductory Volunteers Meeting at Hastings Museum, Johns Place, Bohemia Road, on Tuesday, June 3, at 2.30pm.
