A BEREAVED mum is holding a fundraising ball in memory of her teenage daughter who died of leukaemia.

Diane Hodd, of St Thomas’s Road, will be hosting the event at the Masonic Hall, in East Ascent, St Leonards, on Saturday, September 17 from 7.30pm.

Her 17-year-old daughter Amy died in October 2007.

She said: “Amy passed away after a five-year battle with acute myeloid leukaemia.

“She should have been celebrating her 21st birthday this year but sadly cannot do so. Amy fought the leukaemia with a fantastic sense of humour, courage and dignity. Anyone who met her along the way could not help but love her.

“Two weeks before she passed away she was still learning to drive, which shows what a determined young girl she was. The gap she has left in our lives and hearts is indescribeable.”

The ball is in aid of Children with Cancer Fund and the Oliver Curd Trust, both charities which look after youngsters with cancer.

There will be an auction and raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

Tickets are £30 per person. Last payments should be received no later than September 2.

The price includes a glass of champagne on arrival, canopies and buffet.

To buy tickets ring Diane Hodd on 01424 443062 or 07580 212776 or email diane.hodd@btinternet.com.
