MOTORISED treasure hunters are needed to join a fundraising drive for a local charity.
For the first time in five years, the SWL Motor Club of Hastings have organised a 1066 Country Scatter and Quiz.
Using an Ordnance Survey (OS) map, keen motorists must drive to locations around Hastings and Rother, following clues given at each location. They have four hours to reach the finish line.
While following the trail, which organiser Pete Jenner described as ‘basically a sophisticated treasure hunt’, motorists must answer a sheet of quiz questions.
“It should be a good one this year,” said Pete, who said events, including a petrol crisis, had stopped recent Country Scatters from taking place.
“Anybody can enter, they don’t have to be members of the car club. The more we get, the merrier it will be.”
The chequered flag starts the event at 3pm on Sunday, September 11. It finishes at 7pm in the Hastings area.
Local OS Map 199 will be needed, along with a basic knowledge of map reading. A car, driver and at least one passenger are the only other requirements.
Entry forms are available from Pete and Madaleen Jenner, on 01424 753936, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Winners will receive Caffyns Trophys, and the first team of three cars will receive The Caffyns Shield.
Money raised goes to Crossroads Care, of Hughenden Road.
