SCOOTERISTS and mods will be flocking to Hastings this week - to turn some heads, raise some cash for charity and hand out some Easter eggs.
Brighton might have had Quadrophenia, the recent remake of Brighton Rock might have been filmed in Eastbourne, but Hastings has the 1066 Saxons Scooter Club.
And as many as 200 two-wheeled, parka-clad enthusiasts are expected to gather at the car park on Rock-a-Nore Road tomorrow morning (Saturday) for the annual ride out.
Once everyone is assembled, the troop will fire up their engines, adjust their rear view mirrors and set out en masse - with departure expected to be around noon.
The eventual destination is Coghurst Hall Holiday Park, where awards will be given out for Best Lambretta, Best Vespa, Furthest Travelled, Best Turned Out and a host of other prizes.
Then it is on to Venuu in George Street for an evening of revivalist classics from a host of top name DJs.
However, long before the start of the music, the riders will be performing the much more important job of handing out Easter eggs to children at the Conquest Hospital.
Once the ride is out of the way though, it will be to the Old Town and Venuu for a night of spinning scooter tunes from 9pm until 2am.
And there will also be a raffle, with prizes including a £75 service, a signed Norrie Kerr Vespa manual, a year’s subscription to Classic Scooterist Scene magazine and clothes and watches from mod mecca Jump The Gun in Brighton.
For anyone raring to go, there is also a pre-ride event at Venuu tonight (Friday) again between 9pm and 2am with a free shot of Saxon Two Stroke on the door and a free badge.
