THE mayor dropped in on two fascinating Old Town spots this week to show her support for British Tourism Week.

On Wednesday, March 16, Cllr Kim Forward visited the Flower Makers’ Museum in High Street where she was treated to a tour from owner Brenda Wilson, who talked her through the history of the 100-year-old shop and some of the high-profile film and theatre shows the company has supplied artificial flowers and petals for. Then it was off to the Old Town Hall Museum to meet Beatrice Rapley, the Stade information officer, to find out about the tours she runs of Hastings’s historic hotspots.

Tourism here in Hastings contributes some £211 million a year to the local economy and supports 4,850 jobs.
