A MUSEUM manager in the Old Town has retired.

Phil Ornsby, the manager of Hastings Fishermen’s Museum, based in the former Fishermen’s Church of St Nicholas in Rock-a-Nore Road, was presented with art materials for his hobby and a bottle of scotch.

Anne Scott, chairman of the Old Hastings Preservation Society (OHPS), assisted by John Wright, chairman of the museum committee, made the presentation, pictured above, at the Fishermen’s Museum last Thursday.

Mr Ornsby, with the quaint title ‘shipkeeper’, has been at the museum for more than 10 years.

Ion Castro, OHPS spokesman, said: “We are lucky to have appointed Jan Sellers as Phil’s replacement but he will be a hard act to follow and we have a lot to thank him for.”
