Man robbed of his trainers after walking through park

A MAN was robbed on his trainers in the early hours after being attacked while walking through Alexandra Park.

The victim was with a friend walking home on Saturday after a night out in Hastings town centre.

They were using a torch on a mobile phone in the darkness of the park at between 1am and 1.20am when they passed two men who asked for a light for a cigarette.

The suspects then demanded the mobile phone and a £10 note from one of the victims. One man resisted and was punched in the face, knocking off his glasses. The offender then tried to help him find his glasses - unsuccessfully - before telling him to take off his Airwalk trainers and also robbing him of his mobile phone. Both suspects then headed off towards the fishing pond area that leads back down towards the town centre.

Detective constable Tina Day said: “Because it was so dark the victims were unable to provide any descriptions of their attackers but they were obviously very shaken up.
