Man jailed for robbing shop in Hastings

A Hastings man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to a robbing a corner shop in the town last year.

Clinton Goodfellow, 36, of Whitefriars Road, appeared at Brighton Crown Court on Tuesday, April 7 and received a 39-month prison sentence for the robbery, which happened at West Hill Stores in Plynlimmon Road at 7.40am on Saturday, May 31 when he entered brandishing a capped hypodermic syringe, reached over the counter and took £280 cash.

Mark Page, 29, of Vicarage Road, pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and received an 18-month conditional discharge.

Detective Constable Dave Elcock said: “Thankfully the shop assistant was not hurt but she was left very shaken by what happened to her. The cash was recovered during our enquiries.”
