A man was sent to hospital after it was reported two men were seen fighting in St Leonards on Tuesday (March 1).

Officers were called to Ironlatch Avenue at around 1pm but both men had left the area.

One of them is believed to have ridden away on a bicycle and was described as white, in his 20s, of average build with cropped hair and wearing a black jacket.

The second man was described as looking older and was thought to have walked away from the scene.

A short time later a 45-year-old man was found by officers nearby with cuts and bruises to his face.

He was taken to hospital but later discharged.

PC Tony Luke said: “We are still trying to trace the second man and would urge him, as well as anyone who saw what happened, to contact us.

“Witnesses can email or call 101 quoting reference 470 of 01/03.”

Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
