Man glassed, kicked and stamped on in vicious assault

A group of youths viciously assaulted three people in St Leonards on Sunday (December 20), with one victim requiring 30 stitches for his injuries.

The victims, a 37-year-old man, a 26-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman who are all local, had just left the Bo Peep pub together at around half midnight.

The trio walked along West Hill Road where they came across a group of youths.

One of them hit the 37-year-old in the head with a glass bottle, causing him to fall to the floor, before the other youths kicked and stamped on him before running off.

During the assault the 26-year-old man was hit in the back of the head, causing a cut and the woman was left with bruising after being hit in the face by a bottle.

The victim who was knocked to the floor required 30 stitches and lost a tooth in the attack.

The suspects are all described as white and aged between 16-20. It is believed there were two girls in the group.

Detective Constable Stuart Black from Sussex Police said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack on three friends.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area.”
