During this time one of the girls fell and sustained cuts and bruises. On looking back along Croft Road, they noticed the man had disappeared.

He is described as white, in his mid 40s, of scruffy appearance and wearing a black hooded jacket, possibly concealing a bald or closely shaved head, and black shorts.

PC Elise Beckham, of the Hastings neighbourhood response team, said: “This was a frightening experience for the two girls and left them shocked and shaken.”
