Man attacked in central St Leonards

A MAN was attacked in St Leonards on Tuesday evening (October 16).

The 62-year-old was taking a late evening walk around the area, heading home when the assault took place at around 10.50pm.

He said he was approached by a man who asked him for £10, the victim said he didn’t have any money and was then pushed.

A group of youths ran over to the victim who was laying on the ground and frightened the suspect away.

The victim suffered a cut to his nose and to his knee after he was pushed but did not need hospital treatment.

Police believe there is one suspect who is described as a white man, aged between 30 and 40 and bald.

PC Karl Williams said: “To assault an elderly gentleman is a low act. Were you part of the group of youths who came to his aid? If you witnessed this assault contact police on 101 quoting serial 1884 of 16/10/12 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
