Lost keys? Try the police station

CARELESS residents searching for lost keys are being encouraged to pay a visit to Hastings Police Station.

The front counter of the Bohemia Road station fills up an A4 sized clear plastic bag roughly every month with lost keys for cars, homes, motorbikes and garages.

Residents reaching for a locksmith’s number should first call into the station and sort through the pile to rule out the possibility of a good Samaritan having handed in their key.

PC Duncan Cleverley, of Hastings Police, noted many of the keys feature easily identifiable fobs, and urged key-hunters to visit the station, or call 0845 60 70 999 if their key can easily be described over the phone.
