A NURSERY extension was opened in grand style by Hastings MP Amber Rudd and Mayor Kim Forward.

The ceremony at Fellowship of St Nicholas (FSN), London Road, St Leonards, coincided with the launch of the centre’s new apprenticeship programme in childcare and business administration for 16 to 18-year-olds.

Youngsters are now able to access the garden directly, and enjoy a bigger indoor space thanks the extension as well as get refreshments in a newly refurbished cafe.

FSN co-ordinator, Stephanie Edmonds, said: “The FSN’s aim is to build stronger families and communities and with these three new developments we believe we can make a difference in supporting the local community.”

Ms Rudd added: “This was a marvellous day of celebration at the Fellowship of St Nicholas and it was wonderful that it had so many things to celebrate.

“I was honoured to officially open the nursery extension, it was great to hear more about the fantastic apprenticeship project and I enjoyed trying the delights of the café.”
