A YOUTH group is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a series of music events from May to December, kicking off with a jazz weekend tonight (Friday).
Respond Academy, which is a creative learning community for young people in East Sussex, will begin the celebrations tonight with the first of its musical gigs. Jazz duo, Marc Edwards on piano and Julien Nicholas on tenor sax will be playing tonight at 7pm at Respond Academy in Silchester Road with guitarist Andy Williams and Roger Carey on electric bass playing tomorrow tonight (May 31), also at Respond and also at 7pm.
Mark Edwards has spent 25 years in the music industry working with a range of bands and musicians including Nina Simone, Chris Rea, and Ben Castle, while Julian Nicholas has played with Loose Tubes from 1998-1992.
Andy Williams, son of trombonist Roy Williams, one of the most outstanding guitarists in the south east, was a student of the great guitarist Dave Cliff and playing in duo with Electric Bassist Roger Carey they have been playing together for the last 14 years. Tickets cost £6 on the door.
