Young people set to shout about Hastings

YOUNG people across town will be telling their own stories of Hastings next month through gaming, music and play.

Root Experience, an interactive theatre company, is working with students from Xtrax, to bring the creative project called Shout!

As well as contributing stories and creating performance material, the young people will be involved in each aspect of the project, such as auditioning actors, designing flyers, and buying props and costumes.

Shout! is a pilot project for Root Experience, which is hoping to be able to work with young people across the country.

Jessica Cheetham, artistic producer, said: “I felt it was essential to base our first project in the town where I grew up.

“The unique outlook of Hastings people is beautifully suited to storytelling, life isn’t always easy but there is always a good laugh to be had.

“Every Hastings person is deeply connected to the sea, and Root Experience plans to offer this dramatic landscape as a backdrop to the young people’s stories.”

The stories will be performed by actors across The Stade and Old Town on Saturday, August 30.
