TWO men were injured, one critically, when a stolen motorcycle collided with a parked car in Milward Road, Hastings, in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 22).
Detective Inspector Gavin Patch said: “A 21-year-old man who was riding the motorcycle is being treated for serious injuries at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, where his condition is critical. His friend, 19, who was also on the motorcycle suffered a fractured knee cap.
“The motorcycle had been reported stolen from Alma Terrace just after 1am. While officers were out looking for the stolen bike, we were alerted at 1.54am to a collision in Milward Road. There is information that a small car has made contact with motorcycle before the collision.
“A Vauxhall Corsa was found in Castledown Avenue and we are appealing to anyone who saw the collision or the driver leaving the car in Castledown Avenue. We are carrying out house to house enquiries and appeal to anyone with information to contact us on 101, email 101 @sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Rathnew.”
A 19-year-old man has been arrested for theft, aggravated vehicle taking and possession of a knife and has been bailed until July 10 while investigations continue.
A 18-year-old man, believed to be the car driver, has been arrested on two counts of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been bailed until September 22.
Police are searching for a driver whose car is reported to have collided with the motorcycle moments before the incident occurred.
