THE young winner of this year’s Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition will be returning to town in July to perform a special summer recital in the grounds of Fairlight Hall.
Taek Gi Lee, 17, from South Korea, who is currently studying at the Juilliard School PreCollege Division in New York, won this year’s contest in March with a stunning and beautifully judged performance of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No 3.
His performance made a huge impression on the judges, who included Dame Fanny Waterman, the legendary founder of the renowned Leeds International Piano Competition.
The summer recital will take place on Saturday, July 5, in the recital room and courtyard of Fairlight Hall. Guests will be invited to picnic in the grounds from 3pm. There will be a variety of stalls and a drinks tent serving Pimms and wine.
The concert starts at 5pm. Tickets are £15 and are available from www.HastingsConcertoCompetition.co.uk and from the Hastings Tourist Information Centre at Aquila House. Ring 01424 451111.
