THE St Leonards Festival is set to hit the town today for a fun-filled weekend of music and entertainment.
Kicking off today (Friday, July 11) with a vibrant and diverse programme of entertainment, the festival will run until Sunday, July 13.
Saturday will be a day of traditional free fun, with a community festival in Warrior Square and a supporting market in Kings Road.
A seafront parade at 3pm will be led by Musafir from Rajasthan, with an ‘ethnic and spiritual’ fusion of Gypsy, Hindu and Muslim sounds, along with local drumming groups Dende, Sambalanco and Section 5.
The main stage in Warrior Sqaure Gardens is programed by up-and-coming young producers from XTRAX and they have booked an exciting line up of local and national acts, including headliner Misha B, local band The Tabs, Just Jhoom Bollywood Dancers and ATT, an award winning dance crew. They will also be joined by The Piercings, The Silver Tones, The Dub Generals, The A Capella Bellas and the Bourne Valley Male Voice Choir among others. To finish the weekend’s festivities there will be an Opera Garden Party on Sunday, featuring Barefoot Opera, Opera South East, Soprano Suzy Appleyard and Baritone George Humphries. There will also be a bar, craft market, nature and garden zone and children’s storytelling. The Opera Garden Party is £12 and free for under 16s. Tickets for the Opera Garden Party are available online at www.18hours.org.uk, from SHOP, Norman Road, Moose’s Kitchen, Kings Road, Who’s Wearing What, London Road, and the Hastings Tourist Information Centre.
