CHILDREN from Hastings and St Leonards have the opportunity to get fit for the summer in any way they choose with the launch of a new fitness scheme from Freedom Leisure.
All local children are welcome to come and pick up their first JSFC fitness diary and an Active Loyalty Card, they don’t need to be a Freedom Leisure member to take part. The scheme starts on Monday July 21st.
Participants can take part in activities at Summerfields Leisure Centre or choose any other way of being active - including a family walk, a bike ride or playing football in the park.
Matt James, Freedom Leisure centre manager said: “So long as they’re active for 30 minutes, it counts. This could be taking the dog for a walk, picking up the newspaper or washing the car – it all counts.”
Freedom Leisure is also looking for the Most Active School in the area. The school with the highest percentage of pupils completing a minimum of 30 activities on the challenge will win a Pool Party for the children who complete JSFC at their nearest Freedom Leisure pool.
“The Junior Summer Fitness Challenge is a great opportunity for youngsters in Hastings to be rewarded for being active this summer holiday,” says Cllr Dawn Poole, lead member for Leisure and Amenities at Hastings Borough Council. “The challenge is a great idea because all children can take part, it’s free to register and they don’t necessarily need to be sporty to be active and involved,” she says. “I hope schools and parents get behind the JSFC to encourage their youngsters to sign up and enjoy a happy, healthy summer.”
To sign up register at www.freedom-leisure.co.uk or pick up a diary from Summerfields Leisure Centre.
