TWO friends will be revving up their engine and taking part in a banger rally in a bid to raise money for charity.

Driving a car that is worth less than £400, the pair, along with 61 other teams will travel from Hull, Yorkshire, to Prague, Czech Republic over three days.

Damian, owner of St Leonard’s Test Centre, said: “I do a lot of charity work and just thought why not do this and have fun on the way.

“You’ve got to have a theme and dress up and we’re going as Smokey and Bandit from the film. We got cowboy hats on holiday so basically that‘s why we decided to it! We’re making the car look like the Pontiac Trans Am.”

Allowed to spend only a maximum of £400 on doing up the banger, an old Nissian they named the‘ Pointless Transham,’ Tristan and Damian have had to rely on a little help from their friends, including Rye Metal Finish, Investment Dragon and Jr Components.

Damian added: “The car’s pretty much there and we just like to thank everyone who has helped us. I feel excited definately and just trying to raise as much money as possible for the charities, that’s now our main focus.

Tristan, owner of Custom M.A.D.E, Moorhurst Road, said: “I feel bit nervous but I am relying on Damain’s mechanical skills and I’m just hoping we don’t break down! There’s a bit of apprehension but mainly excitement.” To sponser the pair please visit The St Leonards Test Centre, 80 Castleham Rd, St Leonards.
