A COLLEGE art department graded as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted is preparing for a three-day exhibition of work by degree and diploma students.
Sussex Coast College School of Art and Design’s Degree/Diploma show is an annual event showcasing the work of talented students across a range of disciplines such as fine art, craft, illustration, graphics, film, photography, performance, architecture, animation and fashion.
The show has a history that stretches as far back as the 1960s and has been the launch-pad for thousands of careers in the creative industries, including The Chapman Brothers and Sam Taylor-Wood who all studied at the previous incarnation of Sussex Coast College - Hastings College.
The grand opening takes place at the college today (Friday), from 6pm to 9pm.
The exhibition will then be open from 10am to 2pm tomorrow (Saturday), 10am to 8pm on Monday, (June 30) and 10 to 6pm on Tuesday, July 1.
Jeb Haward, learning and standards manager for the School of Art and Design, said: ‘The students are from courses ranging from Level one up to degree level, and represent age ranges from teenagers to retirement age.
They work happily together in an environment of creativity and openness. This atmosphere generates energy and an outstanding experience for the students, as recognised early this year by Ofsted.
Places are available for a September start across a variety of art and design courses and a range of levels, including both full and part-time.
