A NEW children’s play area has opened in Ore.

Mayor Alan Roberts opened the play space at a celebratory event last Wednesday (May 28).

The new facility is part of a partnership between Orbit housing association and Hastings Borough Council (HBC).

Cllr Emily Westley, the council’s lead member for leisure and amenities said: “It gives me great pleasure to see another play space open as I stand down as lead member for leisure and amenities. Play areas are a very important resource for local families and this one provides excellent play facilities in a safe environment.

“The opening celebration attracted more than 40 local families with children of all ages who joined in with the many activities provided by the council’s Play Hastings team and In2Play. Children took part in treasure hunts, painting and clay, badge making, face painting and sporty challenges. Thanks must go to the local ward councillors Mike Turner and Warren Davies who have worked so hard to see this to fruition and on the day to Eat@ and the council’s rangers for providing the ‘lolly bike’ for refreshments.”

Catherine Charles, head of neighbourhoods for Orbit South, said: “We are delighted that the new play space has been completed and that people living in the Ore Valley community have this fantastic new resource to enjoy.”

Ore Valley Road Play Space will be maintained by HBC’s parks and open spaces team.
