A GROUP of kickboxers from Morocco spent a week in 1066 Country as part of an exchange visit.
Members of Assouar Kickboxing Club were invited to come over from the north African country by Hastings Kickboxing Academy (HKA) and took part in a series of matches.
As part of their trip the four visitors enjoyed an excursion to London, as well as taking in the sights of Hastings, including the Old Town and Alexandra Park.
Carl Denne, owner of HKA, said: “These young fighters were the most respectful young men I have ever met.
“I can honestly say that they were a pleasure to have around.
“While in the UK the four young men experienced the best things that England has to offer including the best restaurants, a trip to London, The National Gallery, and the London Eye.
“They trained like champions on Hastings seafront and beach.”
The Moroccan kickboxers also took part in HKA’s club’s Fight Night II.
Their recent visit to 1066 Country followed a similar exchange visit made by Hastings kickboxers to Morocco in April last year. Mr Denne and members of HKA spent five days working with young people at Assouar Kickboxing Club, in Taroudant, a small town in the south of the country.
The school operates as a drop-in centre with the aim of helping disadvantaged young people in the region.
Youness Ait Baaya, founder of Assouar Kickboxing Club, wrote to Mr Denne after visiting Hastings.
He said: “Having the opportunity to visit Carl and his academy was an amazing and very rich experience.
“HKA showed us its way of teaching and we enjoyed all the times we spent with the club.
“We would like to thank Carl and HKA for giving us this huge opportunity to be a part of their big family and taking care of us.”
