A MOTORIST was struck by another man and suffered a fractured cheek bone while he sat in his car during a terrifying road rage attack.

The 56-year-old victim was attacked in Grange Road around 5.15am on Tuesday.

The driver of a green transit-type van grabbed him and hit him several times ripping the victim’s t-shirt.

The victim received treatment at Conquest Hospital for a fractured cheek bone.

Police have described the van as being a passenger cab and a flat bed at the back with what looked like gas cylinders and brooms sticking out either side. A 43-year-old man, from St Leonards-on-Sea, was arrested on suspicion of assault. He was questioned and released on bail until September 14. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101 or email quoting serial 141 of 15/07. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
