A CARE home in St Leonards has been named a regional winner in a national garden competition.

Leolyn, in Pevensey Road, won the accolade in the contest, run by its owners New Century Care for all of its 27 care homes in the UK.

Staff ensured all residents were able to get involved, whether potting seeds, doing some light weeding or just casting an expert eye over proceedings in the competition.

Ann Holland, general manager at Leolyn, said: “Gardening is so rewarding on every level – it’s great for general health, it’s stimulating both physically and mentally and the result has been a wonderful garden that we can all enjoy.

“We decided to get really creative and make a Henry Moore-style sculpture garden and we’re over the moon to have won and have our efforts recognised.”
