AN OPPORTUNITY for charities and other good causes to raise money at this year’s Hastings Beer and Music Festival comes to an end this week.
Today (Friday) is the closing date for the 2014 Pitch for a Pitch competition that gives charities the chance to tell the festival committee in under 300 words why their cause should run a Bungee Run.
Applicants have the chance to win a pitch throughout the main Beer & Music Festival, which is on Friday, July 4, plus the Family Fun-Day and evening music event on Saturday, July 5, with the opportunity to run a fundraising activity and gain exposure for their cause.
The principal winner will be given an inflatable Bungee Run to staff, the proceeds from which will go directly to their cause, get additional coverage by way of a feature in the Observer, plus a £500 donation from the festival organiser, Hastings Round Table.
Tony Lee, event chairman, said: “In recognition of the smaller clubs and organisations who like so many others struggle to raise much-needed funds and awareness, we have offered to throw two lucky runners-up a special lifeline to fundraise at one of the sessions, with a £250 donation to their chosen charity or cause.
“This year’s Hastings Beer and Music Festival boasts more local bands, more local breweries which means even more local causes are set to benefit this year. We even have a new charity beer this year, being developed as we speak at the Hastings Brewery.
“All we can reveal is that it will be a hoppy pale ale, crafted from Sussex & Cascade Hops, but the name and cause will also be revealed exclusively in next week’s Observer.
“The new style, big top marquee is back again this year providing festival revellers with an unforgettable experience whatever the weather. So why not take advantage of the ‘early bird’ ticket discount, especially as advance tickets sold out last year for the Saturday night.
“Tickets can now be purchased from our authorised outlets, namely Hastings Information Centre (Aquila House), Asda and Hastings Windows or online at http://hbmf.co.uk/product/hbmf-tickets.”
Hastings Beer and Music Festival is completely run by volunteers, who donate 100 per cent of the proceeds to local good causes.
Last year’s event raised more than £70,000.
