The Hastings branch of a ladies fashion accessory store will be closing its doors for the last time in less than a month.

Accessorize, which has been in the Priory Meadow Shopping Centre for more than 10 years, will be closing its Hastings branch on July 26.

John Hough said “Accessorize have been with us since 1999 offering a wide range of fashion accessories and has been a welcome part of our retail mix .My understanding is that the shop will be closing at the end of trading on Saturday, July 26, as the lease comes to an end after 15 years, even though there is provision for them to negotiate a renewal to stay here. This is a decision by the company, and all I can say is that it seems unfortunate, having weathered recessions in the past, for them to be exiting the scheme just as we are turning the corner and are currently benefiting from lots of renewed interest and recent store openings including tReds, PANDORA and of course most latterly H&M.

“On a further positive note we have more new signings and very much in the pipeline which should see additional shops, new to Priory Meadow opening later this year.

“The staff at Accessorize, ably led by Manager Claire Hilt are a great bunch and I wish them all the very best for the future.”

The company refused to comment on its closure of Acessorize in Hastings. Hayley Walsh, of the Accessorize Monsoon press office said: “We have no comment policy at Monsoon Accessorize.”

Along with its sister chain Monsoon, Accessorize is owned by Peter Simon, who is reportedly be worth £250m. The first Monsoon opened London in 1973 followed by the opening of the first Accessorize in 1984. The company now has about 1,000 stores in 54 countries, including 400 in the UK, 160 Monsoon and 240 Accessorize.
