Gang of teenagers attack young men in the early hours

TWO young men were attacked by a gang of boys in the early hours.

The two 20-year-old victims, who were both from Bexhill, were attack around 4am in Harold Road.

They were punched and kicked with one of them being kicked in the head. One of the men flagged down a passing patrol car after the assault.

A group of boys nearby ran off when the patrol car stopped. One was caught by a police offcer who chased the gang.

Officers later arrested another four boys as they searched the area.

A 14-year-old boy from St Leonards and two boys aged 16 from Hastings were arrested on suspicion of assault.

They were questioned before being released on bail until April 30 while officers carry out further enquiries.

A 16-year-old boy from St Leonards and a 15-year-old boy from Hastings were also arrested on suspicion of carrying out an assault.

They were questioned before being released on bail until May 14.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 226 of 18/4.

Police are also appealing for witnesses to an aggravated burglary at a property in Wellington Road at 12.15pm on April 16 where four men forced entry and stole property.

One of the occupants returned home and saw the suspects coming down the stairs. They demanded money but the victim ran through the property, shouted and the four men ran off. They stole a car key but he unhurt. The first suspect is described as a black man, aged 21 - 25, 6’ 2”, of medium to stocky build. He was wearing a hi-vis jacket. The second suspect is described as a black man, aged 21 to 25, 6’ 1”, of slim build. He was wearing a blue hooded jumper. The third and fourth suspects are described as black men, aged 21 to 25, both of slim build. Witness are asked to call police on 101 quoting serial 0530 of 16/04.
