“A positive surge of 0.28m may also be expected, giving a level of approximately 3.95 metres.

“Strong south-westerly winds combined with this tide may lead to tidal flooding of low lying coastal areas.

“Wind speed is currently Gale Force 10 and expected to increase to Gale Force 11 late morning of Monday February 8.

“Wind direction is south-west. This increased wind speed may coincide with high tide at 10:48.

“Strong winds are likely to remain throughout the day and a large surge is also expected to coincide with low tide later this afternoon, so levels are expected to remain high.

“We do not expect flooding of property at this stage. Members of the public and boat owners should take suitable precautions in tidal areas.”
