Event to celebrate the hard work of town’s volunteers

A GROUP of Hastings and St Leonards organisations are holding an event to thank their volunteers and advertise new voluntary positions during Volunteer Week, which runs from Sunday (June 1) to June 7.

The event will be held at the Advice and Community Hub in Hastings where 85 per cent of the staff work on a voluntary basis.

Jo Wilson, from BHT Hastings Advice, said: “Lots of organisations in Hastings rely on volunteers with just under 10,000 Hastings residents volunteering each year. Our volunteers work tirelessly and I can honestly say we wouldn’t be able to run our services without them. Volunteer Week is the perfect opportunity to say a huge thank you to all Hastings volunteers that dedicate their precious time over the year. It’s also the perfect opportunity to tell people about the new volunteer positions that are available in Hastings at the moment.”

Organisations at the event on June 3 will be advertising a wide variety of positions. It runs from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at The Advice and Community Hub, Renaissance House, London Road, St Leonards.
