REAL ale lovers will be able to have a beer and help the pier at this year’s Hastings Beer and Music Festival.
The beer of the festival is an ale lovingly crafted by the Hastings Brewery.
Called simply ‘Pier’ the beer’s orange and blue pump clip features an image of the iconic structure and bears the message ‘Buy a beer to help save the pier’.
Pier beer will be on sale at the festival and 30p will be donated to the pier fund for every pint sold.
The Round Table organised beer festival takes place at Alexandra Park on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5.
But if you cannot wait until then to try the new Pier beer you can find it on sale at Pissarro’s bar at South Terrace in Hastings.
We sampled it this week and can tell you it is a light refreshing beer with a gravity strength of four per cent.
An explosion of Cascade hops give the beer a wonderfully citrus after-taste and lingering fragrant finish.
Molly Hemsley, who works behind the bar at the popular town centre hostelry, said: “It has proved very popular and we have been selling a lot of it.”
This year’s beer and music festival has a top line-up of local bands including Kid Kapichi, Dead Rabbits and Suspect.
