A DESIGNERS’ fair drew in hundreds of visitors over the weekend.

The event, called UPMARKET, was held at the Baker Mamanova Gallery in Norman Road, St Leonards, showcasing 21 Sussex artisans, artists, designers and makers.

Council leader Jeremy Birch said: “We were very pleased to support this event. It was a real treat to see such a varied collection of local creative talent at this very UPMARKET extravaganza.

“Hastings and St Leonards have an outstanding reputation for art and creativity and it was certainly on display there.”

More than 950 people attended the event, drawing in visitors from London, Tunbridge Wells, Lewes, Brighton, Eastbourne, Sevenoaks and surrounding villages and as far afield as Whitstable, Banbury and Cambridge.

Designers had a successful trade, from Louise Body who sold out all her stock on the Saturday and needed to re-stock for the Sunday, through to TheKula, whose chairs range from £600 to £1,000, sold out of goods over the course of the weekend.
