Death of woman no longer being treated as suspicious

No further police action is to be taken over the death of a woman who was found dead in the communal area of flats in Old Town.

A postmortem found that her death had resulted from a head injury.

A 61-year old man from Hastings who was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Susan Bowles, 55, of George Street, was due to answer to police bail on Monday 17 February, but that requirement has now been cancelled.

She died on November 13 last year.

Detective Chief Inspector Jon Fanner, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said: “After a thorough investigation Susan’s death is no longer being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the East Sussex Coroner.”
