A POPULAR annual fundraiser will take place on Sunday April 27 – with organisers hoping as many local cyclists as possible sign up for the On Yer Bike challenge.

In the 25 years since it was launched, On Yer Bike has raised more than £250,000 - with cyclists tackling either a 25 mile or 40 mile route.

Preparations for this year’s event are well underway and anyone who wants to take part can register now, either by sending in the registration form or by following instruction online at www.stleonardsrotary.org.

Organised by the St Leonards Rotary Club, the event has gone from strength to strength in the last quarter of a century. The deadline for signing up for pre-entry to this year’s fundraiser is April 21, although cyclists can also enter on the same day.

Earlier this week one local charity was given a financial boost thanks to last year’s event.

Ian Porter, president of St Leonards Rotary Club, and Ray Howard visited the RNLI lifeboat house to hand over a cheque for £2,750.

This, together with the previous year’s On Yer Bike donation, will help fund a new pod for the vital inshore lifeboat.
