RESIDENTS protesting against development at a caravan park are holding a protest picnic on Sunday (June 15).
The event starts at 1pm and is by Rocklands Caravan Park at the top of Ecclesbourne Glen in the country park.
Objectors are unhappy at the caravan site’s owners applying for retrospective planning permission on alterations to an existing building which was given planning permission by the council in 2012.
Almost 400 people have written to the council in protest. A petition has also been set up.
Objectors are upset over the development, saying the building is an ‘eyesore’ and spoils the natural beauty of the surrounding area.
Rocklands has applied for retrospective planning permission for changes to the building’s ground floor, additional and altered window positions and extended balcony. Councillors will be discussing the application at a meeting at the Town Hall on Wednesday (June 18) from 6pm.
