EMERGENCY services are racing to free a man trapped in a collapsed building in Hastings.
Just before 12.30pm today (February 1), a rock fall behind a shop in White Rock caused the rear of the building to collapse.
The rest of the building is in a dangerous state and a police cordon has been set up around the area amid fears of a further collapse.
Sussex Police say the man is isolated by the rock fall, but not physically trapped by it.
He is talking to firefighters who are working out how to rescue him safely.
The A259 has been closed and it is not clear when the road will reopen.
Police are asking drivers to seek other routes around the area and people are being asked not to attempt to visit the scene in order to leave access clear for the emergency services.
