THIS is the brave woman who was forced to jump for her life 30ft from her window as flames ravaged her Old Town home.

Pirkko Pellinen, 66, suffered extensive injuries after she landed on the ground outside the property in Marine Parade.

Miss Pellinen, who is originally from Finland, is believed to have thrown out a mattress or bedding sheet to three men below to help break her fall.

Sussex Police are still trying to trace the three men.

Paramedics took Miss Pellinen to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton following the incident at around 12.40am on Sunday.

It is believed she underwent surgery for several broken bones including her pelvis.

Miss Pellinen’s partner Alan Toole is keeping a constant bedside vigil and his mobile phone is believed to be the only possession he has left from their fire-ravaged home.

Miss Pellinen moved to Hastings 12 years ago and started working as a dentist at Oasis Dental Practice in London Road, St Leonards.

She is well-known in the Old Town as one of the Iceni belly dancers.

Practice manager Claire Hobbs said: “The practice is devastated.

“Her partner is with her in hospital. She has suffered injuries which she will recover from.

“Pirkko is a very valuable work colleague and friend and loved by all her patients.

“She is a beautiful lady. I took her on at the practice 12 years ago.

“Her glass is always full.

“We are doing everything we can to try and support her family.”
