Staff and customers at Asda in St Leonards raised hundreds of pounds to help those who lost their homes and livelihoods in the devastating fire in the Old Town in May.
A total of £430 was collected.
Wendy Border, the store’s community champion, said: “After hearing the tragic news of those poor families who lost everything and Pirkko Pellinen jumping to save her life and sustaining those terrible injuries I placed buckets around the store for donations from customers and colleagues to be distributed to the victims.
“We managed to raise £430 so would like to say a massive thank you to all our customers who helped us raise this. Claire Hobbs, from Oasis detal practice, collected the money on behalf of the victims.”
