Advice agency given grant to help those become debt free

AN ADVICE agency has been awarded a grant to help those struggling with debt problems.

Hastings and St Leonards Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Centre received £2,750 from the Sussex Community Foundation in its latest round of grant giving.

Nick Warren, local CAP centre manager, said: “We are delighted to have received this grant. We are really grateful for the support of Sussex Community Foundation and its donors. This grant means we can continue to support local families and individuals struggling with debt.”

In the nine months since it opened, Hastings and St Leonards CAP Centre has helped around 60 households onto the path to become debt free. It does not charge for its services and all clients are visited in their own homes.

The local CAP Centre helps people who have got into financial difficulty for a variety of reasons, including job loss, marriage/ partnership separations and physical or mental ill health. For help from CAP, ring 0800 328 0006 or visit www.capuk.org.
