A21 and high-speed rail on Hastings MP's transport summit

Dualling the A21, high-speed rail and buses will be discussed at the MP's third annual transport summit on Friday (March 18).

Politicians and industry leaders will be answering questions at Amber Rudd’s meeting at Sussex Coast College Hastings from 9.30am.

The Hastings and Rye MP said the summit will supplement the work of the local authorities to improve 1066 country’s transport links.

“With this summit, I am looking to build on the successes of previous years where we made major steps forward to improve our area’s rail services,” she said.

“This event will add to the work of councils, businesses, MPs, transport campaigners and members of the public who have pushed for better infrastructure and transport provision in our area.”

Roads minister Andrew Jones MP will discuss investment in the area’s roads as he is this year’s keynote speaker plus a representative from Highways England will give an update on investments in the A21.

Stagecoach’s managing director will set out plans to improve bus services, as well as hearing from chiefs of Southeastern Railways, Southern Railways and GTR – the company who owns Southern.

A Network Rail representative will discuss electrifying the marshlink for high-speed rail plus more from the new working group created to campaign for HS1 coming to the area.
